Social media is too important to do badly, but too time-consuming to do daily from scratch. A calendar-first approach solves both.
The monthly planning method
Block one hour at the start of each month. Plan 12 to 16 posts around four themes:
- Education — pet health tips, seasonal reminders
- Behind-the-scenes — team moments, clinic life
- Client stories — pet of the week, recovery stories (with permission)
- Promotions — upcoming clinics, service highlights
Batch-create, schedule once, review weekly.
Recommended tools
Free tier (good enough for most practices):
- Buffer
- Later
- Meta Business Suite (for Facebook + Instagram only)
Paid tier (worth it once multiple team members are posting):
- Planoly — excellent for visual planning
- Hootsuite — strong analytics
- Sprout Social — enterprise features
The golden rule
Consistency beats perfection. Three posts a week, every week, outperforms a burst of daily posts followed by three weeks of silence.
> The practices with the best social presence aren't the most creative — they're the most consistent.
Pick a rhythm your team can sustain, and protect it.
